Owen back for important game at Hull

March 12, 2009
Owen - Need his goals and fast

Owen - Need his goals and fast

Good news today that Michael Owen is back for the vital clash against Hull. It’s a major boost as we’ve been lacking in goals. The Hull game is absolutely vital and a win is very necessary or we’re into deeper trouble. A draw would be next to useless for us to be totally honest. Nicky Butt has come out and said it himself that a win is crucial and to be honest we’ve had plenty of time for preparation which is good.

We need the win and with Owen back we could get it :D I’m confident and optimistic per usual and think that  Hull and Arsenal are there for the taking. Heroes need to stand up and get stuck in, going down is not an option, for the player or for us, Newcastle fans, inevitably the best set of fans in the world. Come on lads! Get all 3 points!

Huddlestone is still in Newcastle’s sights

March 10, 2009
Huddlestone - After him in January and expected to puruse him again in Summer

Huddlestone - After him in January and expected to pursue him again in Summer

Well it seems the rumours are at it again, what a surprise. Today we’ve been told from various media sources that Newcastle were after Tom Huddlestone in January and we are expected to pursue him again in the Summer which will be quite pleasing to any Newcastle fans like myself :D Reports suggest we made a bid for him after the City game in which Barton got injured :( however the approach was rejected from old Harry and we decided to go and snap Kevin Nolan up instead and in my opinion we didn’t lower our standard of quality when choosing Nolan :D

I for one would be happy with Huddlestone but the fact of the matter is that he would cost at least £5m to prise away although I don’t think if would take much for him to come to Newcastle providing we stay in the Premier League come Summer :D plus as know probably know by now I am very confident that we will be a Premier League team in May :D

Bassong only interested in Newcastle’s safety

March 9, 2009
Bassong - Attracting apparent interest from Arsenal

Bassong - Attracting apparent interest from Arsenal

Sebastien Bassong has spoken today about rumours linking him with Arsenal and despite the crappy tabloids claiming he’s all ready to join Arsenal in the summer is nonsense, let’s just get that straight first. He did however confirm his agent approached him about some interest from Arsenal however Arsené Wenger hasn’t said a word about it. We all know Bassong by now, the best Newcastle defender all season and it doesn’t surprise anyone that he could be attracting interest from bigger clubs. Sebastien said today though, that the only thing on his mind now is keeping Newcastle up and let’s hope he does because you would certainly expect him to leave should we go down :(

Bassong said today :

“Newcastle want to make me sign a contract extension, indeed. I’m waiting to see what they’re going to offer me.”

“My agent quickly told me about Arsenal’s interest. But it’s not the moment to speak about it. I must be focused on my football and on the end of the season, we will see what happens then.”

“At the moment I’m 100 percent focused on Newcastle and I don’t see any reason why this would change.”

“But I would lie if I said that Arsenal are not a club I’m interested in. But many things can happen before we can speak about a transfer.”

Mixed messages there but one clear one, Bassong is keen to stay and keep us up and hopefully sign a new contract at the end of the season :)

Guthrie, Duff, Viduka, Xisco and Owen could well make the Hull game

March 6, 2009
Guthrie - Missing in midfield for some time now

Guthrie - Missing in midfield for some time now

Good news today as it is emerging that Xisco, Duff, Viduka, Owen and Guthrie could all return for the vital clash against Hull, a fortnight tomorrow. It is still unknown whether Beye will make the trip as he is recovering from one of Lee Cattermole’s many terrible challenges this season. Barton, Beye, Digard, and more recently Scott Parker? Perhaps just a little too common in his poor tackling?

But back to our recovering injuries, I must say I am a big fan of of Danny Guthrie and to have him back is brilliant, mind you he has chipped in with a couple of goals this season too, one at Pompey and the other at Wigan. Costing a mere £1.5m, Guthrie has been up until his injury a very important member of the Magpies midfield , often times alongside Barton or Butt. But more importantly, our safety in the Premier League is the major talking issue, with Bassong already saying some players are getting worried of the teams position in the league.

All I can say is, that we’ll stay up, and hopefully have that confirmed fairly soon too :) Hull is such an important game at the minute and should results go our way we could well be in a more comfortable position for the time being at least. Just to note, Blackburn are picking points up on the road which isn’t nice to see but hopefully we’ll pull clear and our true quality will shine through. Remember, Joe will be back soon and the dressing room will change, that’s for sure.

Keep the faith :)

If Newcastle show steel at Hull then we can take all three points

March 5, 2009
Lovenkrands - Scored last night to tear Van der Sars recore to tatters :P

Lovenkrands - Scored last night to tear Van der Sar's recore to tatters :P

I think we can all say when Peter Lovenkrands tapped the ball into the net at St.James’ Park after 9 minutes last night we all were ecstatic, it came as a shock to us but to Alex Ferguson and Edwin Van der Sar. The Dutch man only needed to keep a clean sheet for another 89 minutes before the Newcastle game and it looked pretty straight forward, from a Newcastle fan’s perspective too. Not only had United (Manchester this is) been unstoppable this year, they too had kept a great clean sheet record and tipped for every cup going this year mind.

However, I think we all knew when Lovenkrands and the Mighty Magpie fans had finished their celebration it was back to business and a Red Devils equaliser was imminent. Indeed Rooney fired a fine shot into the back of the net 10 minutes later with the aid of Steven Taylor’s back. Saying this Newcastle kept their heads up and began to attack again, mind you should Enrique’s ball to Lovenkrands have been a little better the man from Denmark could’ve had his second of the night however it wasn’t to be.

Shortly into the second half Berbatov made it 2-1 from some unfortunate defending :( . After that we pressed again introducing Carroll and Kazenga Lua Lua. Some Newcastle fans were outraged that Vidic wasn’t shown a red card after apparently obstructing the little Nigerian on his way to goal. Regarding this title, if we can show this steely determination we showed against The World Club, Carling, and Premier League champions we can stay up, I know it. We can beat Hull and certainly put it up to Arsenal and Chelsea. The nerves are being racked each game but safety will calm them, until August at least :)
